ALLOWING TUESDAY'S ELECTION TO PROCEED
According to Council President Mixon, Governor Bentley may lift the mandatory evacuation order for parts of west Fairhope --- possibly allowing Tuesday's municipal election to be held as scheduled.
Mixon: "He may lift the mandatory evacuation. If he does, there is a chance we will have the election tomorrow."
The city council will meet again at 3PM to consider the matter. The entire council, by majority vote, must decide the issue.
The track of tropical storm Isaac shifted considerably to the west overnight and it has not intensified as much as predicted.
Mixon:
"The Governor is having a meeting this morning. He may lift the mandatory evacuation. If he does, there is a chance that we will have the election tomorrow. The Council will meet at 3 p.m. today to vote."
