Fairhope, Alabama
AT COMMUNITY PARK
Councilman Stankoski says the playground at the Fairhoper's Community Park on Church St. will soon be inspected by a certified inspector. The condition of the park has been questioned recently by many citizens.
Stankoski: "We are moving forward with an inspection ... for safety ... to ensure ... that facility is safe for the children of our community."
Stankoski told the Times later:
"Ken Eslava , Projects and Maintenance Supervisor, has been authorized to retain services of Mr. Robert Vrocher, retired Certified Playground Safety Inspector for City of Mobile to conduct inspection of Community Park Playground and equipmment and to provide a complete written report of deficiencies and make recommendations. This hopefully will be done ASAP to protect our children."
Vrocher is certified as a playground inspector by the National Recreation and Park and Association.
The inspection will cost the city $500, according to Stankoski.
(Publisher's note: It had been discussed having the park's original designer, Leather's and Associates, do the inspection, but their cost for the service was deemed excessive by some council members ($2,000).)
