Fairhope Police Chief Resigns

Fairhope, Alabama

EFFECTIVE NOV. 5TH

At a mandatory staff meeting this afternoon, Police Chief Bill Press announced he and Assistant Chief Sanders will be resigning effective Nov. 5th.

Press's Statement:

"Both Terry Sanders and I will officially resign November 5, 2012. This is done with the sole intent of protecting this agency until a new chief is selected. Since 2009, we have brought out the good, the bad, and, unfortunately the ugly. We replaced those that voluntarily failed to adhere to City policy with outstanding professionals. This was done through a professional hiring and promotional practice that never existed here. The successes of this department could not have reached this pinacle without the support of Council Members Kingrea, Stankoski, Quinn, and Mixon, City Administrator Gregg Mims, and the professional personnel of the Fairhope Police Department. It has and continues to be an honor to act as Chief of Police in such a fine organization."
