Pt. Clear Resort Seeks To Change Plans

Fairhope, Alabama

COLONY AT THE GRAND

The Colony At The Grand project off Old Battles Rd. south of town is requesting part of their property be subdivided. The Planned Unit Development was approved last year as the city's first Tourist Resort District: in conjunction with settling a lawsuit concerning the allowed height of existing buildings there.

TREE PROTECTION AN ISSUE

The request is to subdivide 34 acres of the SW part of the property into 66 lots.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the request at Tuesday's 5PM meeting.

Smith: "The Colony at the Grand development is governed by their TR (Tourism Resort) District Ordinance that was approved by the Council. The development proposed is in line with the TR District approval and any trees that may be cut are also governed by their TR District documents. They have told staff that they are working towards maximum tree preservation and they will be saving trees in certain areas."

"The project consists of 66 lots on approximately 34 acres of property within the Colony at the Grand TR (Tourism Resort) District.  The proposed subdivision is located on the southwest portion of their property and HMR are the engineers for the project."

The subject property is the LR section at the lower left of the drawing below, where Old Battles Rd. makes a sharp turn.
