Chairman of the city's Environmental Advisory Board Jim Horner named Public Works Director/Horticulturist Jennifer Filder as Environmental Employee of the Year for her work to bring about drainage improvements in the Volanta Drainage basin.
Horner: "Jennifer worked diligently ... to put together 7 projects ... have public meetings and seek public input ... the results have been very impressive. ... (she's) a tremendous asset to the city."
Fidler said she learned of the drainage problems in the area when a garbage man was "almost swept away" during a rainstorm on Patlyn Dr. several years ago.
Fidler; "Erosion is such a big issue ... so important that we catch these things upstream ... ."
