I hope that everyone that has publicly or privately disagreed with this decision will put in their will for their loved ones to refuse the "free" escort and instead hire their own constables to lead the procession to the cemetery.

My guess is it will be like the anti-Walmart people who protested the store opening in Fairhope. These people had no problem shopping at the Walmart in Daphne and later at the Walmart that opened in Fairhope.

What a bunch of hypocrites!!!!

The welfare state keeps growing. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

don't kid yourself, these "free" escorts were hidden in the funeral costs and paid to Kant to put into the "personal" police fund; the fund Bill Press exposed and Kant filed ethics charges against him...remember??? Now, the amount to pay will still be hidden, funds given to police fund, but the image is it's free again. There are never any free lunches or funeral escorts....

And the taxpayers end up paying overtime for five funerals a week! In his job interview the overtime budget is what Chief Pettis said he would cut if faced with an overall budget cut of 10%. Where is he going to cut now?

Cut? It's government. One reason to have state legislature pass Bill to annex Wal-Mart. No amount will be enough & now that Kant has free reign,no one will ever know the financial truth, let alone truth about anything else.

Pay back time. Kant and his City Council are a joke.

If we ask the funeral home to pay for police, shouldn't we ask the chamber and art folks to pay for it as well for arts and crafts? And pay the employees needed to clean up? Oh wait, that would cut into their profits they make so they can throw themselves a big party. Nevermind...
