Mayor Going To Paris Air Show

Fairhope, Alabama

TO SOLICIT AIRBUS BUSINESS FOR COUNTY

Mayor Kant will be part of a four man Baldwin County delegation leaving Sunday for 3 days to attend the 50th Paris Air Show and Exposition (click).

County Commissioner Tucker Dorsey, Bay Minette Mayor Bob Wills and a member of the Baldwin Economic Development Alliance will also be attending.

Kant told the Times the delegation will try and attract Airbus-related businesses to Fairhope and Baldwin County -- as an alternative to Mobile County. He said all 3 days are booked up with meetings.

Council President Burrell, an aerospace engineer,  considered going as well but decided against it for various reasons.

Cost of the trip is about $7,500 per person, according to informed sources.

The show is held every odd year at Le Bourget airport in north Paris (click).

Well, if King Kant and his cronies don't do something about some zoning the trip is a waste. They don't want anything here that doesn't represent flowers and nature. Maybe they can get some high end florist in to cater to the airbus employees to buy for their spouses.

I am glad he is going to make some contacts and bring businesses back. We need the jobs.

Thanks for the last comment my fellow city employee. What a waste of $. The 7500 dollars should be placed in the bank for the future law suits caused by the bad cops the Mayor has hired back. Sex, lies and video tapes....funny stuff..

I am glad he is going! That means he will be gone from our city for at least one week!

That's silly. the mayor should be commended for taking the time and making the effort to help our city grow and prosper - especially the largely-vacant industrial park around the airport.

Do tell, did you drum up some business? Will we get our $7,500 money's worth? Do they want that old tacky gas station by the post office?
