Fairhope, Alabama
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
Fairhope Police Lt. Larry Sledge recently updated the progress of the investigation into a rash of burglaries in the downtown and elsewhere.
Fairhope Hardware had its door smashed and change stolen from the cash register.
Sledge said only one involved breaking into a residence, 15 were into vehicles, and five involved commercial businesses.
There were also two auto thefts (keys left in ignition).
7 GUNS STOLEN
Sledge emphasized none of the vehicles involved were locked.
Sledge: "... they were not forced entry ... windows not smashed ... the vehicles were left open."
"There are seven guns on the street now ... we need to locate."
He called it irresponsible to leave vehicles unlocked (especially with guns) and urged residents to comply with the county's ongoing 'Lock it or Lose It' campaign (click).
ARRESTS MADE
Sledge said 7 non-juveniles (18 and over) had been arrested and the investigation continues.
(This report was made at the July 11th council work session. The Times was unable to get a more current update, due to ongoing investigations)

'Ya think???
You're too lazy to recycle and you're too lazy to lock your car with a gun inside.
If that doesn't just scream volumes about the average IQ of a Fairhope resident I'm not sure what does.
the good old days are gone for good
What a ridiculous question, Dr Press. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. There has always been crime in Fairhope and always will be crime in Fairhope.
