Fairhope, Alabama
BOOTHE TO BISHOP CONNECTION
A missing segment of roadway connecting Boothe Rd. to Bishop Rd. in east Fairhope is almost finished (click).
Construction was halted for a while after heavy rains washed out a culvert under construction during July, releasing sediment into the Cowpen Creek tributary. Mayor Kant said at the time there may be some environmental penalties assessed by ADEM; but recently he told the Times he wasn't aware of any. The Times could not find any evidence of fines provided on ADEM's website.
The road is being paid for entirely by the Single Tax Corporation, using its lessees' rent ($526,000). John G. Walton Construction is the contractor.
NAMING CONTROVERSY
What the road will be called remains uncertain: the portion to the south being Boothe Rd. -- and to the north Bishop Rd. (a short segment between Morphy Ave. and Fairhope Ave. is sometimes referred to as Troyer as well).
In order to eliminate confusion for Emergency 911 service it may be necessary for the city council to choose one name for the entire length.
Mayor Kant told the Times earlier this year it needed to be completed before deciding on the naming.

Comments
As for what it should be named, would there be an option to vote on this or would that cost more that it's worth?
