FOR MOVIE FILMING

The name of the old school on Church St. was changed to Saint Nicholas Academy for filming of the Hollywood movie 'Somnia'. The School Board has leased it for the production.

Discussions are still underway about the city purchasing or leasing the building long-term in a public/private effort to convert it into a Performing Arts Facility. Cost of repairs and upgrades are a major consideration as well.

Some School Board members have expressed reluctance to part with it, citing future needs for space for new schools in the area. (The old building would need to be demolished.)
