THANKS FAIRHOPE VOTERS

Tonight, Montrose resident Bradley Byrne defeated Burton LeFlore in a special election to fill the 1st District Congressional seat vacated by Jo Bonner last summer.

In a victory celebration at Moe's Barbecue in Mobile, Byrne specifically thanked home town voters who turned out heavily in last month's runoff election.

Byrne: "The people of Fairhope have always been so supportive ... Fairhope has never had a Congressman ... proud to be the first one ... ."

"Thank you for coming out to vote ... you want a change in Washington and we're going to bring that for you," Byrne told the crowd.

He said he hoped to forge partnerships and work with the people in Washington on both sides.

"We have so many opportunities in this great area ... now is the time to seize the moment."

Byrne: "We're one nation under God ... not under this Party or that Party ... God is the real boss."

Byrne told the crowd of supporters to celebrate the victory tonight ... but he would wake up tomorrow and "get back to work."

A family member told the Times he would be leaving for Washington in the morning.
