PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

At its December meeting, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve a new plan for the city's 10 field soccer complex at the corner on Manley Rd. and CR 13 -- that differs from the original by moving the main entrances to CR 13 instead of Manley.

The Commission had approved the original plan at its November meeting, but after hearing numerous objections from Summer Lake neighborhood residents, the city council subsequently passed a resolution to move its main entrances to CR13 instead.

Depending upon the outcome of a traffic study now underway, one of the new entrances may have to be eliminated ...  leaving only 2.

According to Mayor Kant, a turning lane may need to be installed there as well and it may be necessary for the city to assume maintenance of the roadway, depending on negotiations with the county (CR 13 is currently a county-maintained road).

County Commissioner Bob James told the Times Fish River rainwater runoff requirements will also have to be met.

No further action is required by the city council -- except to approve the construction contracts, which should begin in January.
