NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES CONFERENCE

The mayor and city council (except for Mike Ford) are attending the annual Congress of Cities conference (click)  of the National League of Cities organization.

The event lasts from March 8- 12th -- and is being held at the Marriot Wardman Park hotel.

Congressman Bradley Byrne of Montrose is also pictured.

Before leaving, Mayor Kant said he hoped funding for the recent 'Dyas Triangle' purchase would be discussed during their visit.

According to its website: "The Congressional City Conference brings together more than 2,000 elected and appointed city leaders to focus on the federal policy issues that are important to local governments. Your partnership with the National League of Cities ensures the nation's cities a seat at the decision-making table with members of Congress, the White House, and federal agencies looking for solutions to addressing the nation's most pressing challenges. Additionally, you'll learn about the federal programs, funding opportunities and resources available to implement the most innovative practices at the local level."

Think of it as an investment. You have to spend a little to get a lot in return.

I am so grateful to these very busy people, who all have other jobs, for taking the time to go to Washington to look out for our interests. If they, and our Mayor, are successful in bringing home funding for our projects, great. I am really glad we are so well represented. It's good to have Bradley Byrne there too.
