ABORIGINAL SEA LIFE

The restoration of the mural on the west wall of the Fairhope Hardware store building continued today -- and should be completed in time for the annual Arts and Craft Festival (March 14th).

Fairhope's Ameri'ca Jones-Gallaspy is the artist and the mural sponsored by FEEF.

Art students from Fairhope High School are assisting in the restoration (click).

I was happy to hear it was getting a facelift. After the (near) completion, I'm quite disappointed. Oh well, we have LOTS of other beautiful sights in our city!

Is this really the best "art" Fairhope can show the public? Seems to me we are going a little too far with the "aboriginal" theme. Couldn't our art be a little more current?

My kinda 2 cents is when this one plays out or needs to be changed Invite the kids from all the public schools to come up with theme and each execute a piece of it. It's a happy and colorful wall now !
