New Restaurant Coming To Marina

According to independent sources, a "seafood restaurant" plans to locate in the Fly Creek Marina building formerly occupied by the Fly Creek Cafe -- possibly operated by a well-known local chef who currently has restaurants  in the French Quarter downtown, and in Mobile.

Because of noise and other complaints from neighbors (click), the Fly Creek Cafe lost its lease about two years ago, but subsequently won a wrongfull termination lawsuit (click).

According to media reports at the time, the award was to be appealed.

I've been waiting for this news for over a year! It's been painful to see the place just sitting there. The old Cafe was nothing special, but the location made up for it. Granted, Panini Pete's is way over rated, but it should be good enough. Curious to see what they do with a "seafood restaurant".

I have had a sailboat docked there since the 90's and have watched this little restaurant open, close and go through many changes. Saying its been painful to see it closed is a little bit over the top. I hated to see it close cause of the convenience for a cold beer if I ran out. I wish them all well! Have confidence Pete will operate a professional operation with a delicious menu. He's a proven chef and business operator. We loved going to Mangos at the gulf when he was the chef.

The only thing ruining that neighborhood is a bitter, angry, boring person who has nothing else to do but complain about everything! They need to learn to put some dancing shoes on and live a little.

This article is incorrect in stating that the previous owner lost the lease due to noise and neighborhood complaints. The owner was evicted and falsely accused of leasehold violations after years and many efforts to work with an irresponsible landlord. Best wishes to the new operator.
