The dog park in Volanta Park has reopened after being damaged by the heavy rains.
Some fencing still needs repairs.
The Fairhope Dog Park Coalition (click) raised money to construct the park:
"The Fairhope Dog Park is an off–leash park located in the Fairhope Municipal Sporting Park / Volanta Sports Complex. The park was a joint effort between the Fairhope Dog Park Coalition and the City of Fairhope. The two acre park consists of two sections, one for small and the other for large dogs. Each section has watering stations, benches and waste bag and collection stations. Dog owners who use the park are ask to abide by the Dog Park rules which are posted at the entrance of the park. Some of the rules include: Enter and use at your own and your dog’s risk, all dogs must have a current and visible rabies tag, the minimum age of children allowed in the park is 6 years, and all older children must be supervised, dog(s) must be supervised by their owners at all times and owners must clean up after their dog(s). Flea prevention is highly recommended to prevent flea infestation."
