Fairhope, Alabama
AT FOUNDERS' PARK
The Spring Hill College Ultimate Frisbee Club is hosting the first-ever 'Ultimate' Frisbee tournament this weekend -- called 'Suit and Dive' -- at Founders' Park on Twin Beech Rd. (video @ bottom)
The tournament will last until 4PM tomorrow.
The governing body is the USA Ultimate non-profit organization.
Other Division lll teams competing from around the southeast include: LSU, USA, Valdosta St. West Florida, and others.
According to wikipedia:
Ultimate is a limited-contact team field sport played with a flying disc(frisbee). Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone. Other basic rules are that players must not take steps while holding the disc (maintain a pivot), and interceptions and incomplete passes are turnovers. Rain, wind, or occasionally other adversities can make for a testing match, with rapid turnovers, heightening the pressure of play. A prominent feature of the modern game is the "lay out," a horizontal dive to catch or block the disc.[2]
