Updated: New Fairhope School Representative Sworn In

Fairhope, Alabama

UPDATE:  The meeting described below planned for Dec. 15th will be held in the Intermediate School cafeteria, because of problems with the heating system of the old K-1 building.

At its organizational meeting in Bay Minette this evening,  newly elected Fairhope-area School Board Representative Cecil Christenberry was sworn into office by Probate Judge Tim Russell. (video below)

His wife Linda, daughter Amanda and two grandchildren stood with him.

Christenberry: "We're all in this together."

He takes the place of Bob Callahan who did not seek re-election.

The Times has also learned that preliminary plans are being made to hold a Fairhope school feeder pattern meeting at the old K-1 building on Church St. -- to discus that building's future and other aspects of the capital building plan announced by Superintendent Owen last week. Dec. 15th has been mentioned as a possible date for the public meeting; and another one may be held in January, if necessary.

(Other sources say the old building's auditorium may not be large enough for a performing arts center, and other locations around town on city property are being considered by some proponents instead.)

Not sure it is a good idea seating Cecil between the two red haired girls.
