Diving Champion Recognized By City Council

Fairhope, Alabama

Ms. HELEN LEGG

After being introduced by her swimming coach Cathy Hudson, the Mayor and City Council honored Fairhope High Junior Helen Legg for winning the state AHSAA one-meter diving championship for the third time in a row (video below).

Hudson said she was "really proud" of Ms. Legg, who practices 4 times a week at Port City Divers in Mobile because there are no adequate diving facilities in Baldwin County.

She is planning to study fashion design after graduating high school, according to Hudson.

Sister, Hannah Legg
Helen is the daughter of George and Francesca Legg; and her sister, Fairhope High grad Hannah, has also been a competitive diver and swimmer: she's currently attending Savannah College of Art and Design and qualified for the NAIA national college swimming championship last year.

Council President Burrell thanked coach Hudson for her role in the successes of her pupils: his daughter is currently a member of the swim team as well.
