Groundbreaking Held For New fire Station

Fairhope, Alabama

Construction has begun on the city's fourth Fire Station located on Parker Road at Highridge Rd.

The station is being constructed by the FVFD, a private 501(c) corporation, using donations, county property tax revenue, city impact fees, and other funds.

A private bank loan for $500K was also secured by the VFD for construction.

The city is expected to eventually be deeded the property, as was done with all other fire stations, but probably not until the loan is paid off. (No details have been released about this.)

The last fire station was built in 1999, the Les Bung at the airport.

Changes to a large residential development adjacent the new station are being revised and should come up again at a later date, according to informed sources.
