LEAGUE OF CITIES  CONFERENCE

Meeting with Sen. Shelby
The mayor and city council (except Ford) are attending the annual Congressional Cities Conference in Washington, D.C.; the regular city council meeting normally scheduled for today was moved up to last Thursday instead.

The meeting is held annually by the National League of Cities organization, this year at the Marriot Wardman Park hotel.

Travel expenses for a similar trip by the same group last year totaled about $14,500 (see below).

President Obama addressed the convention Monday and proposed a  new program  to improve training to fill the many new technology jobs being created by the "new" economy.

WASHINGTON - More than 2,000 city leaders and delegates from cities and towns across the country are convening in Washington for the 50th annual National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional City Conference to advocate for city priorities with Congress and the Administration. President Barack Obama will address delegates Monday, March 9 to speak about the many e-fairness, transportation and protecting municipal bonds. The convening is March 7-11 at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel.
