Alabama Special Olympics At Stadium Today

The Alabama chapter of the international Special Olympics non-profit organization held its annual summer games at Volanta Park today..

The organization was conceived by Eunice Kennedy Shriver (sister of the President) in the late 1950s to improve the lives of  those with intellectual disabilites -- and held its first meet in Chicago (1968).
