'BAY BOAT ERA'

Mayor Kant cut the ribbon to a new exhibit about the boats that ferried passengers across the bay to Mobile, until automobiles  became more practical -- after the first bridge was completed in 1927.

About 15 years ago there was an effort by federal and state agencies to establish a new "high-speed" ferry to Mobile and the Gulf beaches, but it never got off the ground.

Donnie Barrett is museum director, Jim Bates assistant director, Peco Forsman constructed the model boats on display.

Poop on our sidewalks and beaches. A sunken boat for 10 years at the pier. Restrooms on the pier homeless people wouldn’t use. You look good in that pic cutting the ribbon mayor, done anything else lately?
