Faulkner Amphitheater Completed

Fairhope, Al.

A bit behind scheduled, the pavilion at the Faulkner State Community College campus downtown has been completed; the grand opening is expected to take place on-campus at the 'Fall Into Fairhope' festivities next month.

The event's familiar conservation exposition will be held there this year with various booths, vendors, animal displays and demonstrations (raptors).

Half of the $1.3 million project was funded by local private non-profit groups like the FSTC, the Fairhope Center For Performing Arts, and Impact 100; the remainder by the state.

The 850 sq. ft. state-of-the-art brick/stone stage is designed to direct sound away from residential neighborhoods; most events will be scheduled only on weekends to insure parking availability and end early in the evening.

Restrooms for up to 500 people are on the west side of the lawn where spectators may bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on to watch concerts, plays and other events.

'FALL INTO FAIRHOPE'

The annual Fall into Fairhope event runs from Oct, 1 - 4; consisting of the Alabama Coastal Bird Festival, Grand Festival of Art and Grand Festival of Books.

I'm so glad to know that my FSTC rent went to this, instead of giving us a break on our "Fees".
