Silverhill Celebrates Its History

HERITAGE DAY 2015
pie eating contest

The small town to the east held its annual festival today -- to celebrate the multi-cultural ethnicity of its founders.

There was the usual food, music, petting zoo, arts and crafts, train rides, and (some kind of) dancing.

Drew Robinson (orange shirt) won the $15 first-place-prize in the pie-eating contest (lemon meringue).

BOHEMIANS HOLD OPEN HOUSE

Little Bohemian Hall
The 'Save The little Hall Committee' welcomed visitors to their restored building as well; the committee was honored for its restoration efforts as grand marshals in the opening parade earlier in the morning.

Committee Chairman Frank Kurcea said it has always been called "little hall" because there is a second one in Robertsdale that is bigger (the PZK).

(The facility is available for rent.)

'Bohemia' is one of the areas in central Europe where the STLC's ancestors originated (Moravia is another).
