Hwy 181 Laundromat Opens Today

Fairhope, Al.

'Crazy Clean' Laundromat
A new coin-operated laundromat just outside city limits on the corner of Twin Beach Rd. and Hwy 181 east of town will open today, according to owner/operator Robert Rainey.

Rainey says he and his mother will be operating the business open from 9 AM until 7 PM daily and hopes to maintain a clean "family" atmosphere there unlike some other laundromats: the place is decorated with Word War II-era aircraft models built by himself.

'Speed Queen' washers and dryers are available, some extra large size.

Rainey has done the landscaping himself and intends to do more -- to improve the appearance of the plain-looking building: He said he considered using brick, but it proved to be too expensive for his budget.

He said he decided to open the business to fill a void and provide a service lacking in Fairhope,

A grand opening with food and beverages is planned at a later date.
