RAIN COULD CONTINUE FOR DAYS
Several librarians were trying to catch rainwater leaking down onto books and equipment this afternoon during a heavy rainstorm; more rain is predicted thru the weekend.
One said the only solution may be "to get bigger buckets."
At a meeting two weeks ago, the city council heard the latest explanations for the chronic leaks (defective exterior stucco), but took no immediate action.

This is an emergency and a chronic problem since the year the library was opened, why has it not been remedied???? a few bricks fall off of the city hall building and the mayor and council declare an emergency, a structural engineering team is hired and repairs begin immediately.....our library is a valuable place, please take care of it!
Three cheers for our valiant librarians!
Is that stump up on the ladder?
Libarians are cool.
IN THE PICTURE THE GUTTERS LOOK CLOGGED. RAIN SHOULD NOT BE POURING DOWN SIDE. WHAT MORONS DID FAIRHOPE HIRE TO MAINTAIN OR EVEN BUILD THIS MONSTER?
I find it very curious as to why such a small town would build such a big library.
does the library board do anything? seems useless.
The silly personal wars between the library people and sports/airport people is why disasters like his happen. time to move on.
It's sad that our mayor is more concerned with landscaping, flowers, and trees, than with our library. This problem has gone on too long.
Digitize the books and provide an online library. Now what to do with such a monstrous building...
