Regular April Planning Commission Meeting Cancelled

Fairhope, Alabama

UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES?

The planning commission meeting scheduled for this afternoon at 5PM was cancelled a week ago and rescheduled for next Monday the 11th, according to the city clerk.

Notices went out, but not to everyone received it -- due to e mail "system problems."

The Times learned of the change only about an hour ago.

The meeting is to be held between the regular council's work session and the regular council meeting. next Monday.

No explanation was given for the unprecedented delay, except that a quorum of the commission could not attend today.

There appears to be nothing pressing on the proposed agenda for the meeting; but additions could be made later in the week.

The Times cannot remember a planning meeting ever being cancelled and rescheduled in such a manner.

The Times has learned the American Planning Association was having a conference in Phoenix through Monday, but no one has said if any planning commissioners attended.

We received no notice of the cancellation until we inquired about the missing agenda about an hour before the meeting.
