After a proposal for a four floor hotel got an icy reception,  the developer has submitted a new plan for just three floors.

Each room would have a different "local" theme, according to project architects (ie. nautical, local history, art, etc).








The L-shaped parcel (photo below) labeled '1' is where the hotel is to be constructed; the city owns the square one labeled 'Par A.'

I cannot understand anyone being opposed to Fairhope's main intersection having a much improved look and function. I won't need a room there, but obviously someone has researched the need for the same. I never have understood opposition to improving an otherwise "dead corner" not unlike two of the four corners at South Section and Morphy and the many dead corners on Bancroft Street. The more activity downtown, the broader the opportunity for a varied dining scene and active Art Walks, Mardi Gras, Arts Festival, Film Festival, Christmas activities, and all the fine delights for Fairhope guests. AWESOME addition to our little downtown!

I'm glad the developer will get to proceed with what appears to be a very nice looking building. This location was never a "town square" as some have stated. The area was where vehicles were driven into service bays at the Ford Dealership from what I was told. The Cryo Yoga building was where new vehicles were displayed.

Looks great! I am happy that the developer recognized that 3 stories was the maximum and has decided to proceed. Hope that the City Council will help figure out the parking situation so that surrounding businesses are not harmed.

They can park in the same FREE spots all the business owners, bank employees and college students park in everyday. Parking is not an issue for a 12 room hotel. Fairhope should put parking meters up and then we wouldn't have issues with the business owners, bank employees and college students taking up all the prime spots in downtown for 8 hours a day. The free parking spots should be reserved for paying customers not lazy employees or college students. Do a little survey and note how many vehicles stay parked for 8 hours or more each day downtown. A lot.

Well as for parking meters, it is prohibited by the single tax corp.Yet we still have a city tax which was supposed to be against the original charter of the single tax corp 1897.So nothing surprises me with in the city anymore.
