New transformers and other electrical equipment bound for the new Young Street/Nichols Avenue electrical substation was being delivered recently; it is being stored at the Twin Beech substation.
"On Thursday, September 26th, Fairhope Public Utilities, Electric Department received the first of six new substation transformers. These transformers are part of the five year plan that will affect all of the substations within the Cities service territory and ensure the we have a safe and reliable system that is able to meet our needs for the next 30 to 40 years. Three more transformers will be delivered in October, and the remaining two in 2020. Work on the Substation construction is currently out for bid and is scheduled to begin in 2020. The Electric Department will continue to keep the ratepayers and citizens informed as they move forward with this project."
