Fairhope, Alabama
NEW FIVE YEAR PLAN?
Landscape Architect Christian Preus sought feedback from Recreation Committee members on a new conceptual master plan for Volanta Park. This is a more detailed version of a plan first mentioned last summer during a council meeting that met with some opposition from neighbors.
The plan as envisioned would be executed in phases and add four baseball fields on vacant space on the east side and triple parking available (first phase), and eventually add a new multi-use recreation facility, enlarge the pool, re-locate and improve the skate park, improve stadium and concession facilities, et. al.
One baseball field on the southwest side would be eliminated for more parking.
The existing frisbee golf course and dog park would not be affected.
A topographical study of the area would be needed before more detailed plans could be formulated for approval by the city council at some point.
This plan would replace a previous one that would have added fields on the west side only.

No need.
No need."
No, that's not checkmate.
Tomorrow's needs might look like today's wants, and that's where vision, planning, and leadership enter the conversation. Whether we have the right mix of those three is a question worth discussing, but cheap Daily Show gotchas and mic drops add nothing to that discussion.
Agree. Do not have now, didn't have before now and I seriously doubt we will have in the future.
When you continue to select from the same pool of people who are causing the problem you will continue to get the same results.
In less than 10 years, Fairhope will be unrecognizable and undesirable as a place to live.
I think people said the same thing 10 years ago.
