Shortages Caused By Virus Scare

Fairhope, Alabama

Update: One likely case is now being reported in Baldwin County. 12 total in the state.

No bread at Walmart.

No eggs.

Paper products gone.

CORONAVIRUS EMERGENCY

Essentials like bread, eggs, and ... toilet paper were in short supply at area grocery stores today as citizens prepared for whatever may come after national and state emergencies were declared yesterday.

Six cases have been detected in Alabama so far (none in Baldwin County).

On the brighter side, gasoline prices have fallen below $2/gallon in places.

I read tonight that there is at least one confirmed case in BC. I think that Alabama has been in a state of false security since the government has been reporting that we have had no cases. We have also had no testing! (Alabama will always be the laughing stock of the world!) There will be certainly a multitude of cases confirmed shortly now that the blinders have been removed. Good move to close the schools, but why wait until Thursday? It appears that kids don't react to the virus but do spread it. I hope that parents are vigilant and don't let their kids spread it by taking them to work and infecting everyone else!

Yes. We understand there is one probable case in Baldwin County now.

Schools are trying to give parents time to make arrangements for day care/etc. for their children.

Alabama citizens will pay the price for the Trump supporters who keep insisting the corona virus pandemic is a hoax or a media driven political conspiracy. The lack of timely test availability, primarily due to the Trump administration gross incompetence, will cause a much faster spread of infections, resulting in hundreds if not thousands of unnecessary additional deaths.

Fairhopians - buy what you need. Not what you can afford.

First confirmed case of TDS in Fairhope.

The government’s response to this pandemic is far better than Obama’s response to the 2009 Swine Flu pandemic which killed 2290 in the USA.

Much higher chance of being killed by a heart attack, obesity or a driver texting!

This is a test for all of us and this country if it is to survive. We must unite as we have done in the past. The CDC is looking at between 3.5-5% fatality rate. But this bug is mutating at a fast rate so that can change. One of the many items that can help is masive Vit C. We are at the begining of this strugle. When we get into it, a lockdown will be put in place-I pray not. But this could be between 2-5m deaths. If you know sombody elderly help them if possible. There will be roadblocks and shortages. Stick to the basics, avoid crowds. Another help is anything to give strength to your imunity. Stay strong Alabama.

Are there any of the “Greatest Generation” living in Fairhope or just a bunch of wusses?

Some people are truly miserable when they have nothing to be miserable about, a few very happy people on here right now!

Look at this on the positive side; this will keep the Evangelical’s out of the bars.

Dear media, a long line at the Airport for screening is not chaos, just a longer wait.

Yes, the voice of reason, indeed. It's all because of Trump, Trump, Trump!

Trump obviously created and set this virus loose, just as Reagan did with AIDS in the 1980s

We snowflakes need to stick together until Uncle Joe--so sound of mind! such reason!--is elected to tell us what to do, sniff our women, and save us from the bad orange man.

"The gullible around here will love Trump, the comb-over Caligula, to the bitter end."

Gullible is believing that one must hate Trump or love Trump--that there is no middle ground.

The "tolerant" Left lets its slip show once again. Lilliputian minds think only in binaries.

I now believe it’s possible for one person to have multiple cases of TDS at the same point in time.

Used to be, back when people had some class, if they disagreed with someone or wanted to express their preference on how something should be, they would state their position or preference on the matter. Now, it’s just name calling and childlike insults toward the individual not only making yourself look bad but the offended have no idea where you stand on a subject.

Re: When people had class....
Friend , sad to say but you seem correct to me. I hope we’ll be more considerate since we are in this together. A good time to be neighborly
And help our neighbors....
