STUDENT POPULATION GROWING

Construction has begun on a 'Ninth Grade Academy' between the high and middle schools on Pirate Drive, to provide more capacity for projected growth needs at that grade level

Stuart Construction of Bay Minette was low bidder for the project at $6.7 million; funding is from the 'sales tax fund', according to Baldwin School Board documents.

Also, a bid of $4.2 million for additional classrooms and renovations  to the J. L. Newton school on CR 32 was awarded to Youngblood-Barrett Construction of Mobile.

Construction has not started there yet.

An expansion of the current Intermediate School on Bishop Road begun almost a year ago is now nearing completion.  It, the current elementary, and the J.L. Newton will all be K-6's this school year.

It boggles the mind why some of this isn't funded by imposing a significant Impact Fee on the developers who are overbuilding in our community.
It's also strange that those developments keep getting approved.
It appears that one, or more, people involved in the approval process must be profiting.

I contacted our local County supervisor regarding this. After 2 months and two tries I said okay I guess I know where he stands. Fairhope does have fee but county does not. When I voiced my displeasure at no return call. There office had a paid county employee nothing to do with this call me. After a lot hot air,he tried hard I give that to him. He said it is in study. That was last year. So the previous post shows were you need to vote. And it is not for the good old boys wink-wink. Unless you like state lawsuits to your city.

They don't build schools you complain. They build schools you complain.
They don't raise taxes you complain. They raise taxes you complain.
They don't pave roads you complain. They pave roads you complain.
Am I missing something here, is there money to be made complaining?

Just the facts-From TV show sorry. Un-checked growth, developers that include local judge and board members w/ties to same. Schools that are not of size for growth, sewers same, electrical same, roads same, police dept same, and tada the water system. No complaint on upgrades. Just the part of paying the bill for wink wink good old boys. Money for complaints? Naw the state is going to start collected for me.

J.L. Newton is already K-6, always has been. It is Fairhope Elementary, along with Fairhope Intermediate, that will become K-6.

Need to protect the teachers and workers with workers comp. Ridiculous that the state and county can shut down businesses for not protecting there employees but they dont have to abide by same laws.
