Fairhope Council Supports New Toll Road Amendment

AMENDMENT 2

By a 3-0 vote (Conyers, Brown absent) the Fairhope city council passed a resolution of support for Amendment 2  on the November 3rd election ballot to establish a state toll authority to complete the Baldwin Beach Express in the central part of the county from Interstate 10 to I-65.

Proponents argue the road would be paid for mostly by tourists going to beaches who use it and would relieve congestion on other roads in the area (ie. Hwy 59).

No tolls. Instead lets raise taxes to pay for roads we don't use.

Toll or No Toll people are missing the point! This is another tax payer waste of money!!! To say it will be paid for by people using it is just another BS statement. The road needs to be built in order for people to be able to pay to use it! Where does that money get fronted from????? Us the taxpayer. How many years do you think it will take to pay this road off????? You can never pay it. This is just another way for people to make their friends rich. Think about it people, this road does not benefit one person in Baldwin County but developers and politicians. Evacuation route, give me a break! I've been here over twenty years and only one time needed to evacuate (ivan). WASTE OF OUR MONEY!!!! Who cares that people have to sit on 59. For three months a year avoid that road on weekends. Please this is just another BS project.
