Fairhope, Alabama

 HURRICANE DELTA

This morning, the city council declared a state of emergency in case hurricane Delta changes course as did Sally three weeks ago.

Currently the city is outside of the "cone."

This is the city's third state of emergency this year.

How can anyone with sane mind calls this over reaction. It is amazing the kind of people that live here.

A main purpose of state of emergency is to allow the mayor and staff to make emergency purchases of labor and stuff when going through the bureaucracy would make the response too slow. It looks like maybe only 5-10% chance of a bad hit but better to be prepared. If nothing happens then we have not spent anything. The biggest inconvenience is to the CC because they have to have an unplanned meeting in the middle of the week. That comes with the job so that’s what they signed up,for. The Mayor, Council, and city employees did an excellent job with Sally. I have lived elsewhere and seen bad responses. Many times better here.....
