UPDATE: The city council approved both the vaccine incentives and the general bonuses during its Monday, August 9 meeting.
EMPLOYEE VACCINE INCENTIVE PROGRAM
As the pandemic worsens locally due to the new ‘delta’ strain, city leaders are considering “containing and mitigating the spread” by offering a $500 bonus to full-time municipal employees who get covid-19 vaccinations before September 10, using federal American Rescue Plan grant money.
Part-time employees would receive $250 and seasonal $125.
An additional $500 bonus to all essential workers employed since the pandemic emergency began on March 1, 2020 is also under consideration, during Monday’s council meeting.
In 2020 there were 370 full-time employees, according to financial auditors.

There are far easier solutions - make it a condition of employment. If you don't comply, you are immediately terminated.

Very sad that people assume that their naiveté and credulity when listing to the politicians and institutions that have been lying to us for nearly two years give them the moral authority to declare what the "right thing" is for everyone and then shove it forcibly down his throat.
If your full-proof vaccines and masks work, God bless you. Employ either one or both (whatever the CDC guidance says this half hour?), and your safety is guaranteed, right? Since your wise and noble decisions have made you bulletproof, your benighted, unwashed public servants cannot harm you.
One more thought: revisit Martin Niemöller's warning, because when they come for YOU, there will be no one left to speak for you.
Burrell, Boone, and Martin have actually had the earlier variety of the virus themselves, as well.
As we recall it, the earlier mask mandate (expired early July) was imposed by the state health officer/governor, not locally. Currently, masks are only recommended at all city facilities, not required, according to the mayor.
Individual, private business owners may impose their own restrictions, as some around town are doing.
Any non-N95 mask is substantially useless.
Yes the Baldwin County sheriff recently got infected with covid. He was vaccinated in January, so the vaccine was not effective in preventing infection. Recently, an outbreak occurred in Massachusetts and in Israel, where the majority of those infected were previously vaccinated. This is happening worldwide. If you think the so called vaccine makes you bullet proof, you are quite mistaken.
people .
What should happen is award those that already got vaccinated a larger monetary amount, and those that procrastinated for political or other reasons get a smaller award.
"Normal" Germans acquiesced to genocide. Don't be in a hurry to pat yourselves on the back just yet.
not to hire unvaccinated employees ..Managing fees & permits to slow the run away growth & traffic.
The Haven already receives an annual stipend from the city and has for over 20 years which has added up to a ridiculous amount of money for a very small organization that is less than transparent about what they do and how they spend their money.
Don't confuse your credulity and enlightenment, your superciliousness with compassion.
Love the Constitution!
Fight. Hate.
Invite me into your world. My time is come.
Rethink your plan and give vaccinated employees the bonus as well.
Yes! And we should look in your refrigerator and liquor cabinet and bedroom to ensure that your personal choices and habits of health are beyond reproach before life-sustaining services are delivered to your home.
Also, the government should put cameras and microphones in every home, as an additional condition for receiving public services, utilities, and medical care of any kind. That way, we can monitor for thought crimes and purge heretics from our community.
