Planning Commission Plans For Moratorium

Fairhope, Alabama

Fairhope Planning Commission.

The city's Planning Commission held a work session at the Nix Center recently to establish priorities for the  12-month moratorium  enacted by the city council last month.

Drainage, traffic, parking and loss of retail in in the downtown were some of the ares discussed. Subcommittees were appointed to study downtown issues. City codes and ordinances may need to be modified accordingly.

Mayor Sullivan and chairman Turner thought excessive construction equipment being staged on downtown streets taking up parking spaces was an issue that needed to be addressed too (ie. dumpsters). The mayor thought a lot of it could be staged on the work site instead.

Priorities for discussion.
