Students To Install Art-crosswalk At Community College

Fairhope, Alabama

New crosswalk site.

CALLED THE 'CAMELLIA CROSSWALK'

A proposal by the Fairhope Junior City Council to install a crosswalk across Bancroft Street at Johnson Avenue was approved by the real city council. The city will provide materials needed as well: cost $450.

The six-segment design is based upon the irrational exuberance, a type of camellia developed by Green Nurseries of Fairhope. March 12th is the scheduled installation day.

This will be the third community beautification project by the Jr. Council:  a fence at community park was first, and a staircase on the bluff the second (photo below).

The Junior City Council was launched in August 2018  to "develop leadership capabilities, push forward youth issues, and educate young learners about municipal structures and government matters," according to a news release at the time.

It is composed of Fairhope High School students from grades 10, 11, and 12.
