Fairhope Library Plans Expansion Upstairs

Fairhope, Alabama

Plans were announced recently to expand services upstairs at the library to include a new teen area, expanded makers space, technical offices, and meeting rooms. A new veterans help center is to be incorporated somewhere too.

The plan should free up space for expansion of current services downstairs as well.

Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation are fundraising now for the project, which is estimated to cost $865K. The foundation recently received a $100K donation.

The building itself is owned by the city; but library operations are controlled by the autonomous Library Board, per state law.

Mott McDonald is the architect.
