FAIRHOPE SATELLITE COURTHOUSE
Two advisory committees appointed by the county commission to develop land use maps in previously-unzoned areas east and south of Fairhope outside of city limits have been meeting with county planning department staff at the satellite courthouse.
Last week's meetings were he third of an anticipated six weekly meetings to develop zoning maps that will then be submitted to the county commission for approval, according to planning director Mathew Brown.
Some potential components discussed during this one were:
*Potential dimensions of buffers between unlike land uses.
*Potential animal husbandry uses permitted,
*Landscape buffer widths for mini-storage.
*Restrict commercial activity (B3,B4) in district 37 to major intersections.
*A unique rural landmark zoning classification in district 8 to "preserve sense of character and place."
Public meetings on Thursdays begin at 8:30 AM (district 37) and 10 AM (district 8) in the upstairs meeting room (northwest corner of building).
