Sink Hole Forms On Bancroft Street

Fairhope, Alabama

Bancroft Street

A heavy rainstorm caused a rusted 24" corrugated metal storm water  pipe under Bancroft Street to collapse early this morning causing a large sink hole to form; luckily classes had ended for the summer at the nearby elementary school the day before so there was little traffic and no one injured.

At a special city council meeting later in the day the council authorized up to $250K for repairs to begin next Tuesday and be completed in no more than two weeks. The mayor is to work out details per state bid law and council's repair resolution.

The entire 325' length of the pipe is to be dug up and replaced with a concrete one; the roadway will have to be repaved as well.

Emergency city council meeting.

Just insert the 325 feet of pipe with a slightly smaller plastic one .
