City To Take Over Quail Creek Tennis Courts?

Fairhope, Alabama

Updated to correct ownership of courts.

City to get tennis courts?

CONVERT TO PICKLEBALL

The city may take over the abandoned tennis courts adjacent to its Quail Creek golf course as well as purchase a nearby vacant lot from the Quail Creek Swim and Racket Club.

The neglected tennis courts could be converted to six new pickleball courts which is growing in popularity among seniors, according to the mayor.

Cost would be about $125K to convert the courts for pickleball ... plus the cost for the property.

Quail Creek Swim Club would keep their pool between the two lots.

The Folks in Quail Creek need to take care of their own abandoned tennis courts & convert courts if need be .The Quail Creek residences have it to good for too long on the cities dime .

These are at the smaller Quail Creek Villas neighborhood. If the city takes over the courts will be open to all Fairhope citizens .

The City of Fairhope has gathered more money than they need for normal operations.

The city needs to supervise the people they hire to maintain city property. This is the same excuse they gave for the additional expenses at the rec center/pool and the splash pad.

This maybe project does nothing to benefit the average citizen of Fairhope. While greatly benefiting a small group who should take care of their own problems . Would the city need to add restrooms & lights as well .

The pool and tennis courts are owned and operated by the Quail Creek Swim & Racquet Club. It is a small membership-based organization consisting of residents of the Quail Creek Estates and The Villas of Quail Creek who decide to join and pay dues to the club. Membership in the swim club is voluntary. There is no HOA in Quail Creek.

Sounds like they need to have a home owner fees instead of asking Fairhope to bail them out . A nice big assessment would fix the problem
