REPUBLICAN PRIMARY ELECTION
Fairhope's Matt Mckenzie was the winner in yesterday's run-off election for the Republican nomination for district 2 county commissioner; since there is no Democratic challenger in the November general election, he will be the next commissioner for the Eastern Shore area.
This was retired state trooper Mckenzie's first run for office; coming from a well-known farming family south of town.
He replaces Joe Davis who chose not to seek re-election.
