Gayfer Avenue Turning Lane Construction Finally Set?

Fairhope, Alabama

Gayfer Road/Greeno Road

GREENO ROAD INTERSECTION

After being delayed due to a snafu in the bidding process earlier in the year, the city council gave the final go-ahead for turning lanes from Gayfer Road (CR 30) onto busy US 98 (Greeno Rd.)

McElhenny Construction of Theodore AL. was the lone bidder at $549K, up about $25K from their winning bid earlier in the year.

Eighty percent will be federally-funded by the Eastern shore MPO and 20% by the city of Fairhope.

The contractor will have 45 days to complete the project, expected to begin in mid-August according to public works director Johnson.

That is indeed good news. Wondering if the City will ever address other dangerous turns, such as the corner of Gayfer/Ingleside. Impossible to turn onto Ingleside off of Gayfer with a car on Ingleside going southbound at the corner.

There is too much talk about the huge I-10 bridge and not enuf about local traffic problems.

Cross walks on South Mobile would be nice & no need to light them

Please, please finish some other projects (Fairhope Avenue) before starting this. Right now Gayfer is our detour around that mess.
