Pier restaurant sold.

 FUTURE PLANS NOT ANNOUNCED

After being out of operation for over two years, the former Yardarm/Shux/Pier restaurant on the Fairhope pier is being sold to a company based in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.

The city council is set to transfer the long-term lease of the city-owned property from the Ricci Company (aka the Gambino entity) to new owner TBT Fairhope Llc, of 114 Main Street, Bay Saint Louis, MS according to corporate records.

The first restaurant there was the Yardarm in the 1970s, then Shux in 2015, followed by The Pier Bar and Grill in 2019 until the covid pandemic forced closure in March 2020.

No information is available yet about plans from the new owners; the name for the new restaurant has not been released yet.

MARINA TOO FOR NOW

When asked about the marina which has always been managed by the restaurant owner under terms of the lease, councilman Burrell replied:

"The Marina is part of the current lease, so it will transfer as well.  COF (city) tried to negotiate with Mr. Gambino to get the marina back under COF control, but it was his right to keep it intact with the other property ... I cannot say when exactly, but I think you will see a revised lease sometime after the lease is transferred."

We just walked by there today and were wondering. Hoping if the restaurant re-opens they can rehab the pier as well. It’s slowly rotting as are the rotten boats docked there.

I'd love to see a bakery that sold fresh croissnats, but we need more thoughtful participnats in public life, lest the tyrnats rule us all. Fewer pendnats would be nice, too, but I'm bored today.
