PARTS SHORTAGE
Even though the contract was awarded last month, construction of much-needed turning lanes on Gayfer Road at Greeno is now not expected to begin until November.
Public works director Johnson said McElhenney Construction company revealed during a preliminary meeting recently that parts and equipment for the new traffic signals will not be available now for several weeks, because of familiar "supply chain" shortage issues blamed on the covid pandemic.
Before that, the project was delayed from earlier in the year by a technical bidding-process error.
80% of the $549K cost is being covered the federal government(ESMPO); 20% by the city.
