CALLED 'LOVE IN FAIRHOPE'

A reality TV show is using the old library on Summit Street as well as other locations around town.

From WKRG news reports:

"Production on a new streaming series titled ‘Love in Fairhope’ started last week on the Eastern Shore. It’s something Fairhope city officials have been keeping under wraps for the past 18 months while production crews obtained permits and scouted the area.

“It’s good for the economy. Obviously when they come here they rent housing, they have caterers, they have food they come to restaurants,” Sullivan said.

Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan can’t say which streaming service is behind the series, but based on casting and crew information online it appears the new show will air on Hulu. ‘Love in Fairhope’ will document the lives of five women who are navigating life and love on the Eastern Shore.

“It’s kind of love through the years. Maybe young love and there’s a widowed person who finds love again. It kind of follows you through the stages of life and finding love at every stage,” Sullivan explained.

Sullivan said it’s not a quick production. Crews will be in town filming through November.

Sources said the Fairhope Inn restaurant will be featured in the new series. Most of the filming will take place indoors at area businesses, so we’re told road closures and detours won’t be needed over the coming months. A release date for the show hasn’t been set."

Well, the good news is they won't close any more roads and detours.

There's nothing more interesting than Hollywood glamor...other than the everyday living of a peaceful, fulfilling life in Fairhope--dining with dear friends in our already thriving restaurants, walking our throbbing downtown sidewalks and waving to neighbors, taking in the breathtaking works of our countless and gifted local artists across so many media (e.g. song, acrylic paint, clay), and nestling in the arms of nature's abundant glory.
Let us recall that Hulu and their corporate masters, mostly Disney and some Comcast, look down upon the South, Alabama, Christians, marriage, families, etc. Somehow, despite their scorn, we still manage to celebrate our blessings every day and lift each other up, even as so many cities are falling apart socially. So, why should we care that they sprinkle a few of their ill-gotten dollars (yes, grooming our children, alone, justifies the characterization) around town?
Rather than greeting these transient guests with oohs and ahhs, we would do better to adapt an attitude of polite indifference. As for any locals involved in the project, directly, I hope that you are well paid and well treated. We should celebrate YOUR success in the arts.

So true! Remember when the Son of God cursed that fig tree? And now this grouch who enjoys dining with friends, supporting local art, greeting neighbors, and basking in nature's glory with a grateful heart--totally indifferent to the toxic trappings of celebrity!!! You've seen one Christian, you seen 'em all.

Disney is as American as apple pie. Maybe because viewers look down on the South is due to "southern" politics.

The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. Gordon Gekko - Wall Street- 1987

Hmmm, apple pie? Do you mean when Disney issues statements like this: that a new task force will "develop action plans to make more LGBT-aware content for children and family...."?
If, by "southern" politics, you mean that we don't support grooming innocent kindergarteners and butchering confused teenagers, I would suggest that there is no "down" to look upon from the trans-activist position, infernally situated as it is.

There are several opinions and differing viewpoints above, just what are you calling poppycock?

Garrulous! A fine PSAT word...but unresponsive and unilluminating.

Love to see new businesses (entertainment or otherwise) in our friendly town, but so sad for the crew, cast & producers (not to mention the excellent Fairhope Inn) that the 'big dig water/sewer project' is working its way down Church Street & others at the same time. Kudos to our City Public Works employees that are facing a herculean task while the weather is working against them consistently. I so hope that someday those that are only here for the filming will return when the dig is completed and they can enjoy strolling the streets and shopping the shops.

Some people may be doing just fine, and I want our town to stay quaint with low traffic and open greenery, open sidewalks too. But plenty of small shops downtown are struggling in the face of our modern online marketplaces, and I think this show sounds like it will bring wonderful publicity to our little town on the bay. I like that people finding love of all ages will be featured, because love is love. When people try and have a picture book perfect romance and follow the steps of life as laid out for us, checking boxes from college to marriage to babies, and it doesn’t work out for them; it can be such a depressing experience. I hope they will show diversity of experiences, ideas, and ways of life! I’m born and raised in Alabama, but instead of being triggered by ego defense and having a closed heart to criticisms of where I come from, I listen to the opinions of others, the opinions of those that aren’t like me. I think content that shows the world and the rest of the country that we aren’t our negative stereotypes, that we are tolerant, accepting, and loving of all people. All people deserve dignity and respect. And all people deserve LOVE! Cheers to Love in Fairhope!
