We received a message from the new owner that the entire building will not be demolished: the clay city tile part is to be saved. (Only the old barbershop in back was demolished.)

307 YOUNG STREET
What many considered an eyesore appliance repair/junkyard on Young Street has been sold.
The new owner is reported to be a well-known local physician; no plans for the property have been announced yet. (Update: See comments below)
Mitchell Appliance Repair operated there since the 1970s and may have preceded zoning laws, according to sources at city hall.
A barbeque restaurant existed there for a while as well, about ten years ago.

In addition to serving as an appliance repair business and restaurant, it has been a juke joint, barber shop, movie theatre, snack store, whiskey bar, and ice cream parlor. This building plays an important role in the neighborhood's history and sense of place. We welcome any historical photos of the building.
