Unusually Low Voter Turnout For Primary Election

According to election canvasing documents, voter turnout for Tuesday's primary election was only 20.5% countywide -- and only slightly higher in the Fairhope area.

Only 23.8% of registered voters showed up at the civic center, 22% at 3 Circle Church, 20% at Homestead Village, 23% at First Baptist Church, and 23% for Mars Hill Church.

Agree that there is something wrong with people these days. No one smiles, there are no manners, no respect. People seem to be in it just for themselves. Also agree that there are a lot of lazy folks here in Fairhope. I think it might take some sort of major development to turn things around.

After using Fairhopes 311 email notification to the Mayor 2x and once to council. I received zero response. That is why voting is important. Elected folks have forgotten who they work for. When they refuse to discuss city policy.

Well several reasons,1)most are unopposed or as bad or worse than the replacement 2)Most are an embarrassment to the State 3) some find it offensive to be required to vote in a church rather than a city,county or state building -who pays for the lights don't think they donate it 4)can't select who we want with no cross over voting 5) most feel votes don't count

More percentage of voters decided to vote at a church than at a non church, so anyone's false notion of "some find it offensive" really don't add up in the numbers.
