Seventy new electric Yamaha golf carts are ready for use at the city's Quail Creek course.
Cost was $7,475 each; the city council authorized the purchase in March.

Golf carts for use on the golf course. Wat a novel idea.

How about put some money into the course to make it playable. Course is in horrible shape.

Remodeled rec building, new cart paths, new carts, full service food court, greens being re- done. Free pickle ball courts. Large amount use. Quail Creek golf/ more is a great value for all - entire family.

Publisher: The city pays for these but does the city recoup the money from golfers that rent them? Also, the more LSV's (not golf carts) on the downtown streets the better...for parking and controlling speed
No, the golf course does not produce income for the city -- to keep it affordable for players.

As for LSVs mentioned above, everyone I have seen in Fairhope parked downtown has taken an entire parking spot.

I believe the point is LSV's will definitely fit into the downtown parking spots and not stick out into the street disrupting traffic flow

The city years ago redid the parking spaces downtown by changing the angle of the space to get more spaces and by doing it they have created a dangerous situation especially with vehicles getting larger. If you are parked beside an extended cab pickup or a large SUV then when backing out to leave you cannot see around the larger vehicle so you have to back way into street before you can see around the other vehicle. This is dangerous and it is an accident waiting to happen. Not everyone wanting to go downtown has a LSV. Discrimination at its best. Welcome to the City of Fairhope!

It is intentional. Driving downtown is meant to be scary. To slow down speeders.
